ROCKWOOD ADVENTURES TEEN TRAVEL
WHEREVER THE FUN IS...WE’RE THERE!!! That’s right, we work all year to find the most fun attractions, places to eat, things to see and do just for our campers! Whether it’s in Boston to see
"Blue Man" and go on a whalewatch, in Atlanta to tour CNN, the World of Coca-Cola or the Martin Luther King Memorial,
in Washington, D.C., at the Newseum or the National Zoo,
checking out the rides of one of many amusement and water parks or touring Ben&Jerry's and the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory in Vermont,
our teens have an awesome time on Rockwood Adventures because we know where the fun is...all day...every day...all summer!
ROCKWOOD ADVENTURES was launched in 1991 as an alternative to both a traditional day camp and a residential camp. This exciting, travel program is planned for teens entering 7th, 8th and 9th grades in September 2009 and is designed for those campers who want to experience a wide variety of activities while being away from home during the week. There are a number of options planned to suit varying summer schedules...the first four weeks, last four weeks or all eight weeks of awesome fun! The first four week program takes our campers on three four-day, one five-day and two, local, Friday day trips. The second four weeks includes one 10-day trip, two four-day trips and one local, Friday day trip. The summer ends with all of our 2009 campers invited to the Last Day Party at Beat Street in Huntingdon Valley.
Our travel is throughout the eastern United States and Canada with the 2009 10-day trip to the Southern states. Our Rockwood Adventures Teen Tour Director, Cricket Snearing, visits locations in advance to see that our campers have security, comfort and cleanliness wherever we go! We travel in luxury motor coaches, featuring video screens and restrooms and driven by professional drivers. On local Friday day trips, school buses and vans will be used for transportation.
The campers bond into a great group, making new friends and sharing the best of times. They learn to function as a part of a team, develop independence and learn how to share group responsibilities. Best of all, the learning takes place without interrupting the fun for one minute!
The proven success of our program has everything to do with great staff. Our Director works year-round to plan the program and meets with new campers and their parents prior to the beginning of the camp season. At that time, we review the activities and the very important set of guidelines to ensure that all campers enjoy their experience "to the max". The summer staff, chosen for their experience in working with children, includes counselors and the director. We provide staff training and orientation, which are specific to the needs of a travel program.
The tuition includes meals, admissions, accommodations, transportation, duffel bag and group and individual photos. Spending money and uniform shirts are not included. A “combo” program, with four weeks Teen Travel and four weeks in camp is also available at Sesame/Rockwood Day Camps, located in Blue Bell, or Diamond Ridge Day Camp, located in Jamison...travel first or come to day camp first! (Campers for the combo option must be within our regular day camp transportation areas). Transportation to and from the camper’s home is provided except on the evenings with designated parent pick-up at camp. Please contact camp to discuss your location to see if transportation to and from your home is in our regular camp transportation area or if other possible arrangements would need to be discussed.
